Preparation

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Once the oil shimmers, add the diced onion. Sauté the onion for a few minutes until it softens and becomes translucent.
  • Add the minced garlic and ginger to the pot with the onion. Stir well for about 30 seconds.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and water, stirring to combine with the sautéed aromatics. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring to a gentle simmer.
  • Add the soy sauce and sriracha to the simmering broth. Stir to mix in the flavors.
  • Carefully add the frozen dumplings to the pot, ensuring they are evenly distributed in the broth. Stir gently.
  • Continue simmering for about 5 minutes, or until the dumplings float to the top.
  • Once the dumplings are floating, stir in the baby spinach and sliced green onions. Cook for an additional minute until the spinach wilts.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and drizzle the sesame oil over the soup. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

Tips: Adjust the sriracha based on your heat preference. Don't skip the sesame oil for a rich flavor. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
