For the Pizza

  • 1 batch Pizza dough (whole wheat or gluten-free) Make sure it's at room temperature before rolling out.
  • 8 oz Fresh mozzarella cheese Torn into pieces for even melting.
  • 1 cup Tomato sauce Spread evenly over the dough.
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil Drizzle over the finished pizza.
  • to taste Salt For seasoning.
  • to taste Pepper For seasoning.
  • 1 cup Fresh basil leaves Scatter over the mozzarella.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to the highest setting for a crispy crust.
  • Place pizza dough on a floured surface and roll it out to about a quarter-inch thick.
  • Transfer the rolled-out dough to a baking sheet or preheated pizza stone.
  • Spread a layer of tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a small edge for the crust.
  • Tear fresh mozzarella into pieces and evenly distribute over the sauce.
  • Scatter fresh basil leaves atop the cheese.
  • Drizzle olive oil over the pizza.
  • Season with salt and pepper.

Cooking

  • Bake the pizza in the preheated oven until the cheese melts and the crust is golden brown, approximately 15 minutes.

Serving

  • Allow the pizza to rest for a couple of minutes before slicing. Cut into wedges and serve warm.

Notes

Use a pizza stone for a crispier crust. Let the dough come to room temperature before handling, and do not overload with toppings to avoid sogginess.
