Ingredients
  

Chicken Thighs

  • 6 pieces bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 2 pounds / 900g)

Sauce

  • ¼ cup honey (85g)
  • 4 large cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup soy sauce (60ml)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar (30ml)
  • ¼ cup water or chicken broth (60ml)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil (30ml)
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) Adjust based on spice preference

Rice

  • cups long-grain white rice (270g)
  • 3 cups water or chicken broth (720ml)
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

Cooking Chicken

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil or vegetable oil.
  • Season the chicken thighs generously with black pepper and optional red pepper flakes.
  • Place the chicken thighs in the hot skillet, skin side down, and cook for about 5–7 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
  • Flip the thighs and cook for another 5–7 minutes until browned and almost cooked through.
  • Transfer the chicken to a plate and set aside.

Making Sauce

  • Add minced garlic to the same skillet and stir into leftover oil for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Pour in honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and water or chicken broth, stirring to combine.
  • Return chicken thighs to the skillet and let simmer for 5 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.

Cooking Rice

  • Rinse the long-grain white rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  • Cook the rice in a pot with 3 cups of water or chicken broth and salt, boiling, then reducing to low heat covered for 15–20 minutes.

Serving

  • Once rice is cooked, serve honey garlic chicken thighs over the rice with the thickened sauce spooned over the top.

Notes

For crispier skin, ensure chicken is dried before cooking. Adjust honey and soy sauce for personal taste. Allow chicken to rest for juiciness.
