Honey Garlic Asian Chicken Skewers

Ingredients
  

For the Marinade

  • 1/4 cup oyster sauce brings savory depth
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup adds sweetness and balance
  • 2 tablespoons honey provides natural sweetness
  • 2 tablespoons chili garlic sauce adds heat and flavor
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard enhances overall flavor
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced adds aromatic taste
  • 2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger adds warmth and zest

For the Skewers

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch chunks tender protein source
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons canola oil helps prevent sticking
  • to taste Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper enhances flavor
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced green onions adds freshness
  • 1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds provides crunch and nutty flavor

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the oyster sauce, ketchup, honey, chili garlic sauce, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Whisk until smooth and well blended.
  • Pour half of the sauce over the chicken thighs in another bowl. Toss gently until evenly coated and set aside to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Soak wooden skewers in water for about 30 minutes if using. Prepare your grill or grill pan.

Cooking

  • After marinating, thread the chicken pieces onto the skewers, leaving space between each piece.
  • Mix the canola oil, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Brush this mixture over the skewers.
  • Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the skewers, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and reaches an internal temperature of at least 165°F.
  • Let the skewers rest for a few minutes before serving. Drizzle any remaining sauce over them and sprinkle with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.

Notes

Best served with rice or veggies. Leftovers can be reheated or used in wraps or salads.
