  • 1 lb ground beef provides protein and flavor
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced adds heartiness and texture
  • 2 cups cream of mushroom soup provides moisture and creaminess
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice) adds rich flavor and creaminess
  • 1 each onion, chopped adds flavor and aroma
  • to taste Salt and pepper enhances overall flavor

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until it's fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the cooked beef and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the cream of mushroom soup to the skillet and mix well with the beef and onions.

Assembly

  • In a casserole dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom.
  • Spoon the beef and soup mixture over the layer of potatoes.
  • Top with the remaining sliced potatoes.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top layer of potatoes.

Baking

  • Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake for about 45 minutes.
  • After 45 minutes, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

For best results, ensure even slicing of potatoes and cover the casserole tightly during baking to retain moisture. Let it sit for a few minutes after baking for easier serving.
