Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls
  • Whisk
  • Deep Skillet or Pot
  • Slotted spoon
  • Paper Towels
  • Cookie Scoop or Spoon

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, beat the eggs until foamy. Whisk in milk and vanilla until well combined.
  • In another bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet until a thick, smooth batter forms.
  • Heat about ¾ inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 375°F (190°C).
  • Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, cooking a few at a time. Fry until golden on one side, then flip to cook the other side evenly.
  • Remove bites with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  • While still warm, dust generously with powdered sugar and serve immediately.

Notes

Try flavor variations by adding lemon zest, almond extract, or cocoa powder. For a lighter version, use the air fryer. Serve with dipping sauces or toppings for a fun dessert bar!
