Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken provides protein and moisture
  • 1/2 cup diced red onion adds sweetness and texture
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced contributes aroma and flavor
  • 1 cup sugar snap peas offers crunch and freshness

Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar adds acidity and brightness
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce provides saltiness and umami
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce adds sweetness and depth
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil contributes rich flavor and aroma
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger adds warmth and spiciness
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha for heat and flavor
  • 1/2 piece chile pepper, sliced optional, for extra heat

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground chicken. Cook until it begins to brown, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  • Once cooked, the chicken should crumble easily and lose its pink color, transforming into a light golden hue.
  • Add the diced red onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Stir and continue cooking until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant.
  • Toss in the sugar snap peas and stir. Cook for another couple of minutes until the peas brighten in color.
  • In a small bowl, mix the rice wine vinegar, low-sodium soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, and sriracha until well blended.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken and vegetable mixture in the skillet. Stir to coat evenly.
  • Add the sliced chile pepper if using and let everything simmer for a minute.

Notes

For best results, ensure even browning of the chicken and adjust spice levels to preference. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to three days or freeze for a month.
