Preparation

  • Begin by preparing your chicken thighs. Place them in the slow cooker, ensuring they are spread out evenly.
  • In a small bowl, combine paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Add the spice mixture to the chicken thighs in the slow cooker, ensuring each piece is coated thoroughly.
  • Zest the lemon first and then juice it, adding both the zest and juice to the chicken.
  • Pour the lemon juice over the seasoned chicken and add the minced garlic, mixing gently.
  • Place the slices of salted butter on top of the chicken mixture.
  • If desired, add the optional lemon slices on top.

Cooking

  • Cover the slow cooker with its lid and set it on low for 6 hours.
  • Once cooking is complete, check the chicken for doneness. It should be tender and easily shredded.
  • Before serving, consider garnishing the dish with optional chopped fresh parsley.
