Ingredients

  • 2-3 chicken breasts boneless, skinless (about 1 ½ lbs)
  • 1 cup chicken broth or water with 1 bouillon cube
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder or 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced

Instructions

  • Pour in broth or chosen liquid until chicken is about one-third submerged.
  • Cook on low for 4–6 hours or high for 2–3 hours, until internal temp reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Slice or shred chicken and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Serve with vegetables, rice, pasta, or in sandwiches.

Notes

For creamy versions, add dairy like cream cheese or sour cream at the end to prevent curdling. To prevent dryness, avoid overcooking and always include some liquid. Shredding chicken into the sauce helps lock in moisture.
