Chicken and Seasoning

Rice and Liquid Base

Cream Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter For thickening the sauce
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour To create a roux
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk For creaminess
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth To add more flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder For flavor in the sauce

Garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Season the chicken breasts with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Cooking Chicken

  • Add the seasoned chicken breasts to the skillet and sear until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  • Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Cooking Rice

  • Add the rice to the same skillet to toast briefly.
  • Pour in chicken broth and salt and bring to a gentle simmer.

Making the Sauce

  • Melt butter in a saucepan and add flour to create a roux.
  • Gradually whisk in whole milk and additional chicken broth until the mixture thickens.
  • Stir in garlic powder, thyme, cheddar cheese, and Parmesan cheese until melted.

Combining and Finishing

  • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with rice and pour the cheese sauce over.
  • Cover and let everything heat through on low heat.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
