  • Heat olive oil and unsalted butter in a large skillet over medium heat, then add the chicken breasts. Cook for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside to rest.

Sauce Preparation

  • In the same skillet, add all-purpose flour and whisk into the remaining oil and butter, stirring constantly for about 1 minute.
  • Gradually add whole milk to the roux while whisking to prevent lumps, allowing the mixture to thicken.
  • Mix in garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika to form a flavorful sauce.

Cooking the Rice

  • Add long-grain white rice and chicken broth into the skillet, stirring gently to combine.
  • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, nestling it into the rice and sauce mixture. Allow to simmer for about 20 minutes.
