Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 8 pieces bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 2.5 lbs)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for moisture
  • 1 teaspoon salt for seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper for flavor
  • 1/2 cup honey for sweetness
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free, for umami
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced for aroma
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar for tang
  • sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until fully blended.
  • Pat the chicken thighs dry with a paper towel.
  • In a baking dish, drizzle olive oil and place chicken thighs skin-side up.
  • Pour the honey garlic mixture evenly over the chicken thighs.

Cooking

  • Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 35-40 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  • Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for a few minutes.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the chicken before serving.

Notes

Marinate chicken for a few hours or overnight for deeper flavor. Baste with pan juices halfway through for added moisture. Ensure chicken skin is dry for crispiness and check internal temperature for doneness.
