Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef (sliced thinly, tender texture) Ensure beef is sliced against the grain for tenderness.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets (crunchy, provides moisture) Cut into bite-sized pieces.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (adds depth of flavor)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced, aromatic kick) Add towards the end of cooking.
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for sautéing) Heat oil well before adding beef.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (thickens the sauce) Mix with liquid ingredients for a smooth sauce.
  • 1/4 cup beef broth (enhances flavor and moisture)
  • Salt and pepper to taste (seasoning for balance) Adjust according to preference.
  • Cooked rice for serving (carbohydrate base) Serve stir-fry over rice.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Slice the beef thinly against the grain and set aside to marinate.
  • Wash and cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together cornstarch, soy sauce, and beef broth until smooth.

Cooking

  • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add the sliced beef to the hot oil and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Add minced garlic to the skillet after the beef is browned, stirring to avoid burning.
  • Add broccoli florets to the skillet and cook for another 3-5 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  • Pour the prepared sauce mixture into the skillet and stir to combine, allowing it to simmer.
  • Season the stir-fry with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Once coated and the sauce has thickened, remove from heat.
  • Serve hot over cooked rice.

Notes

For best results, ensure the beef is sliced thinly and have all ingredients prepared before cooking to facilitate quick stir-frying. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for later use.
